Sizing

Mailbox Number sizing ex 1Mailbox Number sizing exampleWhat size will my labels be?

Our custom mailbox numbers are designed to fit within a particular space. Once you pick your style and color and choose between regular or oversized, the max dimensions for your choices will appear above the “add to cart” button.  Generally, it’s 5.5 inches tall by 7.5 inches wide for regular sized full address decals and 6.5 inches tall by 11 inches wide for oversized full address decals. Styles that include house numbers only are generally 4″ x 7.5″ and 5″ x 11″ respectively.

Are those sizes exact?

No, but they will fit within that area. The actual size will be determined by a combination of the typeface and your particular numbers/address. Longer addresses (e.g. 80754 East Saskatchewan Boulevard) will generally end up being shorter in height and longer in width as we will reach the width limit before we reach the height limit. Conversely, an address with fewer characters (e.g. 21 Elm St.) will end up being taller. Taller typefaces (e.g. our Gandalf style) will sometimes reach the height limit before the width limit. Very wide typefaces like Lumos will end up being significantly smaller than the limit unless your address is extremely short.

Mailbox Number sizing examplesWhat if I have a teensy tiny mailbox?

Select the “regular” size and then put the dimensions you’d like your mailbox numbers to fit within in the field marked “Do you have any size constraints or special requests for this item?” and we’ll make sure they fit. Remember to allow some breathing room so if you only have 4 inches in width, you may want us to make them 3 or 3.5 inches instead of taking up the full 4 inch space. For very small spaces, it’s best to stick with a “Numbers Only” style rather than one that includes a street/family name.

What if my HOA or local building codes require that my mailbox numbers be a certain height?

Order the appropriate size for your mailbox (regular or oversized) and then specify your minimum mailbox number height in the field marked “Do you have any size constraints or special requests for this item?” If the way that we typically design that item doesn’t reach the minimum height, we’ll contact you and give you the option to order the next size up, place a custom order, or we can “stretch” the numbers to make them tall enough.
